We want to support the participation of students and self-advocates at the conference. Members who bring an additional 3 people eligible for the reduced registration fee only pay for themselves and 2 additional people. Please use this great opportunity to bring new people into IASSIDD!

A limited number of rooms have been pre-booked at the conference hotel Divani Caravel hotel. These rooms are available on a first come, first served basis and can only be booked through the IASSIDD website when you register for the conference. Cost for double rooms is 160 euros per night including breakfast.

Registration fees for Athens conference (all fees in USD)

Any person or organization who subscribes to the aims and objectives of IASSIDD is eligible to join as a member.Reduced rate is available to full-time students, individuals or organizations from LAMI-countries (according to the list of the world bank) and individuals how are eligible for financial or social benefits/allowances in their countries or holders of a variety of concession grants/cards.

Cancelation policy
Registration and room fees will be refunded (less a $US75 administrative fee) for cancellations received in writing no later than May 31st. After May 31st, registration fees are transferable but not refundable.

After May 31st we are not able to refund room charges.

Keynote speakers

We are proud to announce Prof. Angela Hassiotis, Prof. Geert Van Hove and Prof. Petri Embregts as three of the congress keynote speakers.

Angela Hassiotis is a professor of Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability at UCL and a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Camden Learning Disability Service/Camden and Islington Foundation Trust.

Feeling at home: a mental health research agenda for and with people with intellectual developmental disabilities and their families.

Geert Van Hove is a full professor and Head of the Department of Special Needs Education at Ghent University.

Title: Disability Studies and citizens with a label of ‘intellectual disability’: how do we tackle some prominent questions concerning Diversity & Belonging.

Petri Embregts is a full professor at the Department of Tranzo (Scientific center for care and welfare) at Tilburg University (The Netherlands) and program leader of the Academic Collaborative Center Living with an Intellectual Disability (empowerment, self-determination, social networks, staff interventions).

Title: Feeling connected, being autonomous. Self-determination is an essential dimension of quality of life. To develop self-determination, autonomy-supportive environments are crucial. This presentation aims to provide more insight in the level of (relational) autonomy and self-determination experienced by people with intellectual disabilities themselves related to the support from formal and informal networks.
